Selling Israel out bit by bit

JPost – Israel is willing to negotiate with Lebanon directly about the Mount Dov/Shaba Farms issue, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told visiting Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Frattini offered Rome’s services in facilitating negotiations between Jerusalem and Beirut. During his meeting with Frattini, Olmert – according to government sources – expressed a desire for direct talks with Lebanon on all the issues of contention. [snip] Earlier, prior to meeting President Shimon Peres, Frattini said, “In my view it would be extremely important to open negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. We have good contacts with Prime Minister Saniora, and I am in contact with him, and I will pass on the message.”

Oh wow, what a brilliant idea, ain’t this Olmert fellow such a star. In fact why just throw a couple of farms at the savages, why not take the map of Israel and just give them the top half, it’s only paper you know. What’s that…. oh the Israelis might just hang from you the nearest crane, oh yeah that’s true, oh alright, small steps for now, you can sell em’ out square meter by square meter. But seriously folks, Olmert just keeps pulling these brilliant ideas out of his ass, why didn’t we think of this, could it be that the savages who Israel was on the brink of defeating might see this as a sign of weakness, no way! Perhaps they might use the newly acquired land that Israel so kindly donated to launch more attacks against Israel, never, they’ve never done such a thing before, or have they.

One last thing, the last time I checked Saniora wasn’t exactly running Lebanon, it seemed more like Hizbollah was just letting him survive because they found merriment in his discomfort. Sort of like in the old wild west when the outlaws have thoroughly outgunned the local law enforcement and for merriment start shooting at their captive’s feet yelling dance! Besides I don’t think Hizbollah want to take over the whole place, not because they couldn’t but rather they’re not into the normal business of government, boring things like providing healthcare, education, garbage collection etc. Much more fun to send rockets into Israel every now and then to keep the Jews on their toes, oh and play cat and mouse with UNIFIL. And somehow I don’t think that UNIFIL is the cat is this particular game. Olmert might want to remember this before he rushes to wave some paper about and mouth platitudes about bringing them “peace”. Image thanks to BBC.
