Toyota Hybrid Sales Are Booming

TOKYO — Toyota is struggling to keep up with booming demand for hybrid vehicles because it’s unable to make enough of the batteries that are key parts in the hit “green” cars, a senior executive said Monday. The crunch on battery production is likely to continue for the rest of the year because new lines can’t be added to boost production until next year, said Toyota Motor Corp. executive vice-president Takeshi Uchiyamada, who oversees production at Japan’s top automaker.
“Hybrids are selling so well we are doing all we can to increase production,” he said in an interview. “We need new lines.” Battery production is critical in determining how many hybrid vehicles Toyota can produce, Uchiyamada said at the company’s Tokyo office.
Sounds like they really need that $35 million Kevin07 slung them trying to buy some green cred for himself.

Rudd couldn’t care less, it’s taxpayers money that he’s spreading around, like monopoly money really. Besides judging by the latest opinion polls, the taxpayers are quite happy with his performance.

MK, yes the sheeple will probably go on being happy with him so long as the MSM keep him painted in the light to which he has become accustomed.
Re: the hybrid cars, I hope the huge demand will result in mass production and affordability but I’m wondering if they’ll find some other way to fleece us after that.

Sales may be booming but I haven’t bought one yet. I can see that sooner or later I will probably be forced to though, which is the plan, isn’t it? We are going to be forced to drive itsy-bitsy cars. Yuck! I’m going to keep the truck. Farmers have to have a farm truck, there simply is no other option. Farmers also have to have gas to run tractors and other farm equipment. Price of gas goes up, price of produce goes up. Our being unable to produce our own oil is affecting the price of everything. I can’t continue to charge a reasonable price for produce when it costs me a small fortune to get it to market, which may seem like an exaggeration but I know the price of gas is going to go even higher and there is no relief in sight!

There are normal size vehicles being made, that can and are also green. That’s what I will buy when I need another vehicle. I cannot get by with a car that is so tiny you can’t carry family or goods in it. What’s the point? We have a 1998 Durango and plan to keep it as long as it keeps running properly. We’ve never had a minutes problem with it, it looks like new, we can get guitars, speakers, amplifiers, in it. We can also haul 8 people comfortably. It also gets good gas mileage for a large engine and 4 wheel drive, which we also need where we live.

Course they will Aurora, lefties never give up trying to find creative new ways of fleecing us.
I wonder if they’ll insist that the term organic also mean zero pollution one day.
But Gayle, most city lefties think that meat, eggs and veggies come from the store, what does the farm have to do with anything?
That’s one of the things the car-haters overlook Debbie, if you’re carrying a lot of people ferrying them around in small cars is less efficient than in a big vehicle. Then again they’d much rather you didn’t have big families and use the crappy old bus instead.
