Not All Major Media Aboard Earth Hour
March 28, 2008 at 9:07 am | In Climate Change, Fools, Global Warming, Guest Contributor |By AR - Well, ok it’s a long way from being a major anything, but I was thrilled to read in my local free-newspaper, The Weekly Times, an editorial blasting Earth Hour for the farce it is.
“Children and their big kid parents are being tricked into taking part in the Earth Hour farce again this Saturday night.”
It’s a bit unusual for a local paper to take such an approach and risk offending readers (and losing advertisers). Normally local papers are anodyne in their opinions playing it safe and PC. I commend the editor for his fearless stance in combating the Earth Hour hoax.

Nice one, AR. As you say, it takes guts for individuals to have a bit of backbone, let alone a newspaper!

Great link - hilarious.
Who knew you could stop global warming just by wrestling? Someone please wrestle Al Gore to the ground and tape his mouth shut.
On second thought let them all keep talking. The more they spout the religion du jour AGW - the more ridiculous they look. And from that article they’ve moved into the seriously comical.
Turn off the lights in Sydney? Does that include hospital lights and life support systems?
Here in the States we’ve had a heavy winter. I blame global warming. We had no hurricanes last year. I blame global warming. A rock broke my windshield last week, I blame global warming. I overslept this morning. I blame global warming. Makes as much sense as what they say…

The company I work for is participating this evening and quite frankly it makes me sick. Anything to bolster Ruddtopia…

Well, it’s now 9:10pm here and I’ve just turned out most of the lights I turned on for Earth Hour.
Looks like a few people in our street went dark for the occasion.
Idiots.

They’re probably dreaming of the time a few years ago when the power in Auckland was cut for 3 weeks, KG.
