Rudd govt. to shaft carers

Posted by MK on March 6, 2008

LiveNews – Carers will be hundreds of dollars out of pocket, with the Rudd government to axe a bonus payment worth 16 hundred dollars a year. They will instead receive a higher utilities allowance, but that won’t make up the shortfall. Shadow Families Minister Tony Abbott says this is a slap in the face for thousands of Australians. “It went to the people who really need help most in our society. If this was something that the Howard government could do with surpluses of about $10 million, surely the Rudd government with much, much bigger surpluses should continue this.”

So much for working families eh. But rest assured I’m sure the Rudd government will surely feel your pain, they’ll surely know that it will hurt, that it will cause stress, that it will get worse, that carers will do it tough and that there is more pain to come. The PM is busy somewhere overseas, but hopefully he’ll come to his senses when he hears what his ‘razor-gang’ has been up to.

Seriously I wonder how long it will take for the whole farce to wear thin and for Aussies to realize we’ve been duped. Krudd can only play the girlie ingenue for so long.
