A Jihadist, A British Author and The Lion King

December 4, 2007 at 8:26 am | In America, Culture, Europe, Free Speech, Freedom, Gun Control, Resistance to Islam |

Late last week I saw a small speech by Mark Steyn about multiculturalism, in it he also says that multiculturalists are ignorant, for example they probably wouldn’t know the capital of Sudan or Nepal or Zambia, multiculturalism promotes ignorance. Once again Steyn is spot on, this morning I read about a British children’s author, Kes Gray, who unwittingly called one of his characters “Mohammed the Mole” to promote multiculturalism, Kes Gray did this in an effort to be “inclusive”. Needless to say he has renamed the character to “Morgan”, after hearing the fate of Gillian Gibbons over in the not-so-inclusive-but-still-equal Sudan. I’m certainly glad the character he chose wasn’t a pig and I hope, for his sake, that was not just a coincidence.

I also hope he knows how to grovel really well and has no enemies, because 40,000 copies have already been sold, some of them overseas, someone had better start thinking about a security detail. Gillian Gibbon allowed her Sudanese class to name a teddy bear Mohammed, she thought herself well-versed in the sensibilities of the people she was living amongst and now mobs are baying for her blood and she’s lucky to be alive because of her ignorance. Is someone thinking about a security detail for her when she returns, I hope they are. I remember seeing a fellow one of the days on the evening news from Sudan saying he would behead the English Gillian Gibbons if he got hold of her, let’s call him Abdul. If you put aside America for the time being, Abdul and Kes Gray are emblematic of the world we live in today.

We in western society waffle on about free speech, our superior culture, liberty and all that, but our actions say otherwise. We all know that Kes Gray can go ahead and publish his book as is, damn the extremists, but what happens when Abdul turns up at his door with a switch blade and a piece of paper. Many of us will fold, like Kes Gray, we know the pen is not mightier than the switchblade, let alone the sword. We all know the police cannot protect all of us 24/7, they can’t be on every street corner, yet many of us have agreed that we don’t need guns to protect ourselves. Our ’superior’ laws won’t let Kes Gray carry a gun to protect himself, we refuse to go down the route of those crazy Americans, what ever laws we’ve passed, the reality is that Kes Gray has to ‘rename’ his character and grovel or he’ll be hung out to dry.

The world we live is a bit like the jungle in Disney’s The Lion King, except it’s not quite what we think it is and it doesn’t end happily in about 2 hours. In the jungle, the lion is superior and king, not just because he woke up one day and decided so, it’s also because all the smaller animals agree and they agree, not because they decided this at a grand convention or something. They agree simply because every other day the lion grabs a few of them and eats them and they can’t do the same to him. We in the west, assumed that we are superior to all other cultures and some other cultures also agree and strive to head in the same direction as us. We then used this multiculturalism, to try and elevate other cultures to our level and we felt warm and fuzzy for it. What we were ignorant of was that one particular culture and religion never saw us as superior, unlike the small animals of the jungle they never agreed that we were, in fact they saw us as inferior from the very beginning.

Like in the movie, the lion hangs around with the meerkat and the warthog, thinking he is superior and so very tolerant. It’s the carefree Hakuna Matata lifestyle, the lion seems to eat nuts or something, he doesn’t bother with learning about the rest of jungle, he is content that everyone is equal and assumes everyone loves him because he is not lording over the mongoose and the pig. He hasn’t noticed that the jungle keeps changing and new animals are moving in and they are not convinced that he is king. That is what too many of us in the west have done, live for the moment, save the polar bear, all are equal and welcome, don’t have children, global warming, save the planet, recycle, consider the environment before printing. But this is the real world, the real jungle, and here tolerance is weakness, ignorance is dangerous and folding to threats of violence is a sign of inferiority.

You have to see things from Abdul’s perspective, Abdul doesn’t see New Labor and Tories or old Labor, when the British Empire seeks a pardon from the government of backwater Sudan for one of its citizens, Abdul sees inferiority. When the British Empire’s embassy in Iran is pelted with rocks, eggs and petrol bombs and they do nothing, Abdul sees inferiority. When soldiers of the British Empire are kidnapped and the British Empire grovels, that is weakness, not nuance or win-win. Do not make the mistake of thinking that Abdul is stupid, like Kes Gray and Gillian Gibbons he is also ignorant, but he is not stupid. Neither is Kes Gray, they both see the writing on the wall.

Kes Gray has seen the fate of Gillian Gibbons, at the mercy of the savages in Sudan, his own government “seeking her pardon”, he may be ignorant of the ways of Islam, but he knows what will happen if he offends them, even in his own country. He also sees that, not only does he not have the will to fight, he doesn’t have the ability to fight. Abdul knows the British Empire, one of the most powerful countries on this planet, has weapons of mass destruction, but all he sees when he waves his machete, is mass submission. Abdul knows that in nuclear powered France, the infidel is scared of his own streets. He knows that in parts of the UK, if he leers at the infidel woman in her short skirt and heckles her, the next day she will wear pants. They both know that she first has to get raped or beaten before some one might come to fight for her liberty.

Abdul knows if they catch him and put him in jail the infidel doesn’t have the stomach to kill him, instead he will rearrange Abdul’s toilet and give him halal meals everyday and a Koran to memorize, the infidel can take everything away from him, but Abdul needs nothing, he has Allah. Earlier I said that Abdul doesn’t see Labor and Tory, but he does see a difference between Europe and America. The other day Osama bin Laden released a video tape urging Europeans to leave Afghanistan, note he didn’t say America or Australia. The stupid multiculturalists amongst us might think that it’s because he likes Europeans more than Americans & Australians, he doesn’t, it’s just that he knows Europeans are the weak link in the infidel defense. He knows the European lion has few teeth and is handing over his kingdom, bit by bit, to the circle of weasels so he can return to his Hakuna Matata lifestyle.

Osama knows that when his brethren poked the American lion in Iraq with his stick, for a while the lion was disoriented but he came back and sent more and he hasn’t let up so far. The message of ‘the surge’ has been received loud & clear, don’t provoke the lion, at least not while that mad Texan is running the place. What the rest of us have to learn and we need to learn very quickly is to follow the example of the Americans. Abdul knows to stay away from the American infidel, especially the one driving the pickup with the flags and the rifle, they have around 200 million guns at last count, he knows his machete is not mightier than the gun. I will end by saying, Abdul knows that the American and the European both believe in Liberty, he doesn’t think the European will fight for his liberty, for good reason, but he knows the American will and most importantly, he can.

I was most impressed by the way that you carried the metaphor of the Lion King all the way through to the end.

  6. LOL, Mohammed the Mole…and then she had to change it. That’s a nice little piece of irony you’ve found there again, MK.
