MK’s Views - Down under on the right side

Folks, we’ve progressed far into that magical land of stupidity and the tooth fairy, we no longer use nasty guns and such rudimentary tools to protect ourselves. We bought the lie told by the gun-control and weapons-fearing fools of this world, in this magical world of ours we resort to that thing called the AVO (apprehended violence order). It’s powers are magical folks, you just need to believe, until the world of the violent and evil collide with yours and you’ll find the tooth fairy and the gun-control fool isn’t around to explain their position. Since we banned guns and knives and all violence, you’d think we’d be a bit safer wouldn’t you. The following just happened over a few days, read the paper ever week and you’ll see that crime is on the rise, people are getting shot, stabbed, raped, bashed, robbed everywhere in this country.

Daily Telegraph - AN abused woman was stalked by her violent former partner for months before he finally stabbed her in front of her 10-year-old son this week, friends said. Police revealed the boy valiantly tried to intervene as Anita Mercael, 32, was repeatedly stabbed as they arrived at their Fairfield unit on Wednesday. “He couldn’t accept she left. He was always harassing her. She had an apprehended violence order,” a colleague, who did not wish to be named, said.

Many of gun-hating folks here and also over in America think that Americans and other like-minded folk are a bit backward with their guns, flags and all that. They believe that they are superior to us, that the ones over there driving around in their trucks with the rifle against the back glass are a bit stupid. Don’t we know it’s 2007, do we think it’s still the wild west or something. Well, if you’re one of those people, let me put the above scenarios to you. Say you’re that young man, a regular guy living in a quiet part of some city, going to work and back, just doing your thing, when one day you pick up the local paper or see on the local news that some fellow walking around got robbed of his monthly pay, kicked in the balls and got his kidneys pounded, or shots were fired your local bank.

Say you’re that abused woman and your husband, who simply insists on beating the daylights out of you every now and then, gets sent to jail for a few months because you finally pressed charges, leaves you with the words, “I’m going to get you, you bitch!!” Put aside those crazy Americans with their guns, rifles and flags and all that. Say you live in an Australia or England where we’re so much cleverer and superior and all that, what can you do, you’re the guy that’s worried about getting his teeth knocked out while walking around in his street, you’re the wife that knows that SOB will come for you in 6 months time.

You can take out the AVO and hope he respects it, you can move, you can run and run all your life or just don’t walk outside and learn internet banking. You can keep the phone charged and close by and hope the cops aren’t delayed on the way to your door while it’s getting kicked in. You can put them on speed dial and try to remember the street names as you walk by and hope the operator hears your location correctly while you’re getting some major “dental work” carried out. You can also call your local politician, maybe he’ll get another law passed banning guns, knives and all violence. You can call a womens’ support group and they’ll try and help you run and hide, they can also ask all men to wear a ribbon of some sort and become ‘aware’. And that’s just about all you can do legally in our vastly superior and intelligent countries. If you want the crims to be locked up temporarily, you first need to get raped or shot or robbed or lose a few teeth.

Over in America, there are some places where you can’t protect yourself with a gun, not all of them are dumb and backward you know, but if you’re that guy walking home with his pay or the woman fearful of her husband, you can go out and buy a gun. You can find some of those crazies with the rifles and flags and they’ll politely explain triggers and bullets and all that to you. They’ll help train you for a small fee and might even do it for free. Then if you’re that guy you can walk out into the street in your own neighborhood and when you see a couple of punks eye-balling you and start moving towards you, you can push the jacket to one side and get your hand around that Glock 37 and they’ll learn manners very quickly. If you’re the woman fearing her husband, you can lock your doors and go to sleep, when you hear suspicious sounds, the safety comes off and the laser sight comes on and he’ll be all for women’s equality and moving on, very quickly.

Don’t bother thinking that allowing yourself to have a gun will mean there will be more guns, they already have them, it’s just you who doesn’t. Think about those scenarios, think about what you’re allowed to do here and in America and then ask yourself, who’s the real dumbass!!
