Thanks Australia - The bill is on its way
November 30, 2007 at 11:12 pm | In Global Warming, Kevin 07 - New Leadership | No CommentsSMH - Yvo de Boer applauded the decision to ratify the protocol, and said it would make “a big difference” to Australia’s standing at global climate talks in Bali which begin on Monday. But he warned that if it fails to meet its greenhouse gas emissions target, “Australia is stepping into a legally binding international instrument that would oblige [it] to meet its target and it has penalties in place if [it] were to fail to do so.” Mr de Boer, the head of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, told the Herald: “I think the international community will very much appreciate Australia’s decision to ratify Kyoto.

Gasbags holding up traffic on our Harbour bridge
November 30, 2007 at 12:53 pm | In Morons, Outrageous, Wankers, Weapons of War | 2 CommentsLiveNews - The NRMA has attacked a protest group, for causing major disruption tonight to peak hour traffic on Sydney Harbour Bridge. Hundreds of cyclists, part of the critical mass group, held a meeting in Hyde Park before moving onto the bridge, slowing Northbound traffic to a walk, as they stopped while crossing on their way to North Sydney. Ken Boyce from the RTA says police will be on hand to keep watch, but motorists going through the area should try find another route home. “We just have to ask everyone to be a bit patient.”

‘Families’ the new leftist cudgel
November 30, 2007 at 10:16 am | In Kevin 07 - New Leadership | 4 CommentsLiveNews - Prime Minister-elect Kevin Rudd says he won’t be swayed by a union demand that new Australian Workplace Agreements be banned from January 1. Unions are concerned that unscrupulous employers could take advantage of the lag time before any new laws come into effect by forcing workers to sign up to long contracts, which will remain in force until they expire. The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) says workers are being forced to sign new five-year AWAs while Howard government laws still apply.
Born on this day - Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill
November 30, 2007 at 5:59 am | In Britain, History | 5 Comments
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. A noted statesman, orator and strategist, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army. He has been studied to a unique extent as part of modern British and world history. A prolific author, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953 for his own historical writings.[1]
During his army career Churchill saw combat with the Malakand Field Force on the Northwest Frontier, at the Battle of Omdurman in the Sudan and during the Second Boer War in South Africa. During this period he also gained fame, and not a small amount of notoriety, as a correspondent. At the forefront of the political scene for almost sixty years, Churchill held numerous political and cabinet positions. Before the First World War, he served as President of the Board of Trade and Home Secretary during the Liberal governments. In the First World War Churchill served in numerous positions, as First Lord of the Admiralty, Minister of Munitions, Secretary of State for War and Secretary of State for Air.
He also served in the British Army on the Western Front and commanded the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. During the interwar years, he served as Chancellor of the Exchequer. After the outbreak of the Second World War, Churchill was appointed First Lord of the Admiralty. Following the resignation of Neville Chamberlain in May 1940, he became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and led the British war effort against the Axis powers. His speeches were a great inspiration to the embattled Allied forces. Churchill’s greatest achievement was his refusal to capitulate when defeat seemed imminent, and he remained a strong opponent of any negotiations with Germany throughout the war. Few others in the Cabinet had this degree of resolve.

Communism - failing since 322BC
November 30, 2007 at 4:12 am | In Communism, Leftists, Moonbats, Morons | 5 CommentsJohn Stossel, Real Clear Politics - The failure of Soviet communism is only the latest demonstration that freedom and property rights, not sharing, are essential to prosperity. The earliest European settlers in America had a dramatic demonstration of that lesson, but few people today know it. When the Pilgrims first settled the Plymouth Colony, they organized their farm economy along communal lines. The goal was to share everything equally, work and produce.
They nearly all starved. Continue reading Communism - failing since 322BC…
Howard Was Out Of Touch?
November 29, 2007 at 11:25 pm | In Guest Contributor, Kevin 07 - New Leadership, Politics | 5 CommentsBy AR - Kevin Rudd announces his new ministry and, never short of a cliche, exhorts his ministers to shoulder the heavy burden for working families’ hopes and expectations and to help people in their “workaday lives”.
He should stick to meaningless cliches. Words have… nuance. Such as workaday - meaning commonplace, ordinary, prosaic, mundane.

The EU wants your guns
November 29, 2007 at 10:01 pm | In EU, Freedom, Gun Control, Leftists | 4 CommentsDW-World.de - The European Commission on Thursday urged the 27-member bloc to adopt a set of minimum rules, which would ban anyone under 18 from purchasing or possessing a gun. An exception would be made for minors involved in hunting or target shooting under the supervision of an adult. “Recent dramatic events have shown just how necessary it is to better control the purchase and circulation of arms,” said Commission Vice-President Gunter Verheugen of Germany. In addition to making the age-limit more rigid, the EU wants its member states by 2014 to set up computerized databanks containing detailed information on each firearm and the names and addresses of both the supplier and buyer. The data would be accessible to police and judicial authorities and would be kept on file for 20 years.
Youtube bows to religion of peace and tolerance
November 29, 2007 at 9:45 pm | In Dhimmitude, Egypt, Islam, Persecution, Police-State | No CommentsFOXNews - A prominent Egyptian human rights activist has been muzzled after YouTube and Yahoo! shut down accounts belonging to the award-winning blogger. Cairo-based Wael Abbas regularly writes and posts video about police brutality, torture and sexual harassment in Egypt. He told FOXNews.com that he’s fighting an “electronic war” now that the providers have pulled the plug on his video and e-mail accounts. “This is part of a campaign or a war — an electronic war — against me,” Abbas said from Cairo.
Abbas has used his YouTube account to post more than 100 videos of police brutality and public demonstrations over the past few years to further the fight for freedoms in his country. Many of the videos, taken with cell phones, are leaked to him by anonymous posters who find that Abbas will report on the stories when mainstream Egyptian media will not. YouTube said the decision to remove Abbas’ videos had nothing to do with the Egyptian government, but was rather an internal decision.
Yeah an internal decision, they had a look and found they have no spine, hence the Islamic savages win again. Shame Youtube.
The savages won’t get their blood, for now
November 29, 2007 at 8:22 pm | In Africa, Islam, Justice Denied, Outrageous, Sharia Law | No CommentsDaily Mail - A British teacher accused of insulting Muslims after her class called a teddy bear Mohammed was found guilty and jailed for 15 days, a defence lawyer said tonight. Gillian Gibbons, 54, was ordered to be deported after she had completed her sentence. Robert Boulos, head of Unity high school where Gibbons worked, said: “We are happy with the verdict. It is fair. There were a lot of political pressures and attention.” He added: “We will be very sad to lose her.”
I read last night that some of the savages were calling for her execution, so much tolerance ey. Oh well, I’m thankful the poor woman didn’t get the 40 lashes, she just has to hang in there for 10 more days and she’ll be on her way home, having experienced the peace, tolerance and love of Islam in all it’s glory. Unfortunately with the way things are going back home, I hope she won’t assume that this sort of thing could never happen in Britain. Now, you will remember that all cultures are equal and you lot are just the same as these savages in Sudan, won’t you.

Police “cracking” down
November 29, 2007 at 2:38 pm | In Australia, Laws | 2 CommentsLiveNews - Police will start cracking down on violent, drunken behaviour with new “Move On” orders being introduced into State Parliament. Officers will be able to split up groups of three or more people loitering in public places if they’re considered a risk to each other or the people around them. Police Minister David Campbell says they’ll only be allowed back when they’re sober. “Police can direct them to leave the area and not to return to that area for six hours.
When you hear that they’ll start “cracking” down, you’re expecting boots to ass, the trouble makers are going home missing teeth and having an intimate knowledge of every door-frame at the local police station. Well these tough new laws mean they’ll be asked to leave an area for 6 hours, so are the police going to sit there for 6 hours to make sure they don’t return. If they go somewhere else and start trouble there, will the cops follow them or something? Maybe I’m wrong, but it sounds like yet another law that can’t be enforced.
Melbourne - Multicultural Festivities
November 29, 2007 at 11:16 am | In Crime, Multiculturalism | 3 CommentsNews.com.au - AN attempted arrest descended into a mass brawl last night as police came under attack from up to 100 youths in Flemington. One officer suffered a bruised chest and ribs as the aggressive crowd turned on police. When police stopped to speak to a rock-throwing suspect on Racecourse Rd he became abusive and was arrested. It was during this arrest that another man - also believed to have been involved in the rock-throwing - attacked police officers.
After he was also arrested, scores of youths and adults - many believed to be of African descent - surrounded police and attempted to free the men. One police officer was injured and a total of 15 police units from the CBD and inner suburban areas attended to disperse the crowd. Two further teenagers were arrested. Four males aged between 14 and 18 years of age were eventually taken to the Moonee Ponds Police Station before being released.
Well, get used to it folks, you have leftists running the entire country now, firmly believing in multiculturalism and all cultures are more equal the main culture here, pretty soon more and more police are going to throw in the towel and you’re defenseless. During the election campaign one of the leftie infested schools put up a sign on the fence, “We are a society, not an economy”, the smart money is on us having neither an economy nor a society in years to come.
The rainy day is coming
November 29, 2007 at 9:28 am | In Economy | 5 CommentsDaily Mail - One of the world’s leading financial experts has warned that a “perfect storm” could be about to hit Western economies. There is rising concern that the U.S. economy will slip into recession next year dragging many Western economies - including Britain - down with it as the global credit crisis worsens. The Washington-based International Monetary Fund has warned of a “perfect storm” caused by surging oil prices and the turbulence on the world’s financial markets. Its chief economist, Simon Johnson, said: “The combination of the global credit crunch and high oil prices could bring a big reduction in international trade from which no one would be immune.” Mr Johnson cautioned that the current projections for the American economy and those of Europe are “too optimistic” and would have to be downgraded.
More Sunnis turn - AQI on the run
November 29, 2007 at 8:41 am | In Al-Qaeda, Good News, Iraq | 1 CommentAssociated Press - Nearly 6,000 Sunni Arab residents joined a security pact with American forces Wednesday in what U.S. officers described as a critical step in plugging the remaining escape routes for extremists flushed from former strongholds. The new alliance — called the single largest single volunteer mobilization since the war began — covers the “last gateway” for groups such as al-Qaida in Iraq seeking new havens in northern Iraq, U.S. military officials said. U.S. commanders have tried to build a ring around insurgents who fled military offensives launched earlier this year in the western Anbar province and later into Baghdad and surrounding areas. In many places, the U.S.-led battles were given key help from tribal militias — mainly Sunnis — that had turned again al-Qaida and other groups.
I’m from the government and I’m here to help
November 29, 2007 at 6:03 am | In Socialism, Venezuela | 2 CommentsHouston Chronicle - Hugo Chavez, already one of the most powerful leaders in the history of this oil-rich country, may get a new duty: mapmaker-in-chief. If voters approve a major rewrite to Venezuela’s constitution on Sunday, the president will be able to carve out new political territories and appoint vice presidents to run them. This “new geometry of power,” as Chavez calls it, is a key part of his socialist blueprint and, his supporters say, could mean more federal aid and attention to long-neglected areas.
But opponents argue it would usurp the power of elected mayors and governors, some of whom oppose Chavez. Presidential appointees, the critics say, would act as parallel authorities, siphoning away prestige and federal money from local and state officials. “The strategy is to strangle the mayors and governors,” said Ramon Martinez… “Chavez will decide everything.” Chavez’ project, said Manuel Donis Rios, a Venezuelan historian, mirrors the policies of 19th-century dictators who appointed military commanders to rule outlying areas and crush dissent.
The law is not on your side
November 29, 2007 at 5:53 am | In Crime, Justice Denied | No CommentsFour people have been sentenced for their involvement in the revenge shooting death of NSW Hunter Valley mother Shandele Macey. In the NSW Supreme Court today, Justice Graham Barr jailed Jeremy Michael Hunt - who pulled the trigger - for at least six years and nine months. Ms Macey’s former lover and amphetamine dealer, Brian Andrew Kaiser, 35, was jailed for at least eight years and two months.
Michelle Rowena Rocco, 33, was placed on a five-year good behaviour bond, after pleading guilty to assisting Hunt both before and after the shooting. Ronald Rex Edward Garland, 35, was jailed for five months, after admitting comforting and assisting Hunt after the shooting, knowing he had killed a woman. SMH.
You can’t defend yourself, the crims have knives, guns, bats, bricks, swords, everything. If they get caught, a few years and they’re out early for behaving in jail, back on the dole, living off the law-abiding. I guess the moral of the story is, don’t get shot, what else can you say.
Defending your castle - Wrong country mate
November 29, 2007 at 4:01 am | In Crime, Gun Control | No CommentsMan shoots teenager trespassing in his backyard - A Canberra man allegedly shot a teenager in the hip after finding the boy in his backyard early yesterday morning. The 63-year-old’s due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm and possessing unauthorised firearms. Police say the man found the 16-year-old in his Downer backyard at about 2.30 yesterday afternoon and shot him. Officers searched the older man’s home last night and allegedly found two unauthorised firearms and a large amount of ammunition. The victim’s being treated in hospital.
If he was over in America, they’d probably shrug it off, no problem, scumbag caught in the backyard, shouldn’t have been there, thanks for not killing him, maybe he’ll change his ways. Over here, no way, don’t work like that son, you’re not allowed a gun old chap, we don’t care if the scumbag has a gun or not. You are not allowed one, period. We prefer the headline, old timer bashed and robbed [shock/horror], police looking for teenager, call crime stoppers. If all your lifesavings were stolen, tough sh*t, go to centrelink, nobody cares for the law-abiding. You’re not allowed to defend your castle, if you do, you’re the bad guy and the crim is suddenly the “victim”, quick - somebody get baby whatever he wants.

November 28, 2007 at 9:30 pm | In Africa, Islam, Justice Denied, Outrageous, Sharia Law | 2 CommentsRemember that British schoolteacher, poor woman who went to Sudan to help, to educate little children, she did the best she could, tried to be as tolerant and sensitive as possible. We’re constantly told that Islam means peace, tolerance, flowers and all sorts of wonderful things, so you’d think they’d just forgive and forget a silly mistake. Sorry folks, don’t believe the leftist/Muslim lies, there is no peace, no tolerance, no forgiveness or gratitude from these savages. You think they’d release her and kick her out of the country post haste, but no, none of that, the savages are outside the gate, they want blood and will settle for nothing less.
Tony Blair’s Legacy
November 28, 2007 at 8:54 pm | In Britain, Children, Education | 3 CommentsDaily Mail - English children’s literacy levels are among the worst in the Western world, a devastating international survey has revealed. England has plummeted down a global league table of reading standards among primary school children, sliding from third place five years ago to 19th. We now trail Scotland, the United States, most of Europe including France, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and the Baltic states. The findings explode ministers’ claims that standards have continually risen under Labour, which has doubled education spending on schools and nurseries to £50billion-a-year. At least £600million has been invested in primary school literacy initiatives alone since 1998. Yet our showing in independent international tests suggests that, far from improving, the performance of England’s primary pupils has actually declined.

November 28, 2007 at 4:26 pm | In Hamas, Hatred, Palestine | 2 CommentsDW-World.de - In the Gaza Strip, tens of thousands of supporters of the radical Hamas movement took to the streets protesting the Annapolis conference. Hamas leader Ismail Haniya said any concessions made by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would be unacceptable. Chavez’ ego over-rides Venezuela’s staples
November 28, 2007 at 3:40 pm | In Socialism, Venezuela, Wankers | 2 CommentsBBC - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he has frozen his country’s bilateral ties with neighbouring Colombia. The move follows the decision by Colombian President Alvaro Uribe to end Mr Chavez’s role as a hostage negotiator with Colombia’s Farc rebels. Mr Chavez said that the decision to end his mediation role was “a spit in the face” and denounced Mr Uribe as a liar.
eluniversal.com - Venezuela is highly dependent on Colombian exports of basic staples (eggs, chicken, milk, and beef, among others), cars and automobile spare parts, apparel and footwear. Venezuela’s economy -marked by high consumption and a poor supply of goods and services- is resorting to imports to meet demand in such areas. Consequently, as of 1999, Venezuelan purchases from Colombia climbed 199 percent, from USD 923 million to USD 2.75 billion in August 2007, according to the official Colombian Statistics Department (DANE).

Another Belgian city bans Hijab
November 28, 2007 at 2:50 pm | In Europe, Islam, Resistance to Islam, Women | 1 CommentIslam Online - Ghent City, Belgium’s third largest, has decided to prohibit civil servants who were with the public from donning hijab. “It is really not clear who counts as an employee in contact with the public, but we will have to carry it out,” a city spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday, November 28. The city council voted the ban with 26 in favor and 23 other against. The spokesman said hijab-clad employees might be offered work elsewhere. Teachers and police officers will be exempted from the hijab ban. Belgium’s second city Antwerp banned the Muslim headscarf earlier this year.
Imagine something like this happened in America or Australia, CAIR would be publicly calling for homicide bombers and jihad against the wretched Satan over it. Leftists would be tearing their clothes off in protest, no wait, they’re already doing that, to everyone’s disgust.

Free booze - What the heck?
November 28, 2007 at 10:01 am | In Alcohol Abuse, Drunk Driving | 2 CommentsYahoo!7 News - A scheme is about to be launched in central western New South Wales, offering pub and club patrons cut-price taxi fares and free drinks in an effort to curb drink-driving. Under the Catch Ya Later project, patrons from Forbes and Parkes will receive a free drink on arrival at their destination if they use a cab on a Friday or Saturday night. Free or discounted fares are also being offered in Forbes, Parkes and Condobolin throughout December. Program organiser Melanie Suitor, from Lachlan Shire Council, says it is hoped the incentives will help cut drink-driving rates. “So it’s all about in the interim just trying to change driver behaviour in the short-term and teach them to actually leave their car at home if they’re going to drink,” she said. “It has a long-term effect.” Continue reading Free booze - What the heck?…
